I’m a mixed media painter working in acrylic paint and collage.  I often work from sketches that I do when traveling.  The subjects of the sketches are often representational.  When I paint these subjects, they can go through a transformation becoming more abstract.  I like to add found paper but sometimes the paper is so interesting that it is the main subject of the painting. I find paper on trips: part of a flyer posted in a parking lot in LA or a wrapper on the ground.  Each paper has a backstory which can add character and mystery to my work.
